SHATTERED WINDOWS…BROKEN LIVES

SHATTERED WINDOWS BROKEN LIVES
By: Barbara Goodjoin

Curtains billowed through shattered windows
music thundered—bullets rained
fanning the breeze in their wake.
Dead and wounded fell…like broken limbs
from a tree called humanity.
Screams embedded in my brain
The pings of ricocheting metal
against steel, asphalt, ground and bone
tearing at my sanity as the tears leave
trails running down my face.
Smiles turn to frowns
Laughter into wails
Songs shift into dirges of woe.
Loving hands that caressed become claws of desperation.
Shattered windows—Broken lives…
what happened in Vegas now known world-wide.
