EARTHQUAKE!

The ground, once firm, was shaking,
heaving as if to vomit from its core.
I screamed and stood motionless–
except for the earth lurching under my feet!
The shaking lasted for but a moment,
but, still… after all these years,
my heart continues to tremble
and my knees continue to quake.
